DIRECTOR OF ACCOUNTS AND STRATEGY

Position Summary

The Director of Accounts and Strategy holds a leadership role and acts as a strategic advisor and partner to the organization’s portfolio of accounts.   This includes responsibility for strategy development, client satisfaction, account revenue growth and overall account profitability as well as direct management of the account services team. Director assists Annodyne’s Chief Executive Officer and leadership team with developing, communicating, executing, and sustaining Annodyne’s business priorities and associated strategic initiatives.  Functions as an external consultant in client engagements and as an internal consultant to Annodyne staff.

Position Responsibilities

Account Management and Strategy

  • Lead the strategic development of account plans to grow existing portfolio, maintain portfolio profitability and achieve growth targets
  • Own, develop and cultivate relationships with key team members at all levels of the client organization and provide superior client service
  • Provide internal teams with appropriate insight into client’s strategic business initiatives to ensure the execution and implementation of projects are aligned with client’s strategy
  • Participate in new business pitches and partner with CEO on new opportunities
  • Leads or participates in consulting engagements as required
  • Present research/findings and strategies/insights in client team meetings
  • Maintain thorough understanding of the clients’ marketplace, monitor/interpret social and cultural trends relevant to the clients’ business and develop vertical expertise
  • Develop and coach team, ensuring they are aligned to the company strategy and have the appropriate priorities, goals, processes and resources to achieve the business plan
  • Develops and maintains harmonious client relationships
  • Attends client meetings/conventions/market research and handles timely follow-up
  • Identifies new opportunities, renewals, potential updates to existing tactics, etc. with current clients to help organically grow accounts

Financial

  • Manages the budget for each client by reviewing estimated hours versus actual hours on a monthly basis and leads internal and external budget meetings
  • Works with Director of Operations to develop estimation guides, change orders, and addition requests as needed to be reviewed by senior management
  • Works closely with agency billing and finance team to ensure budgets are adhered to, and estimates are revised and approved in a timely manner when appropriate

Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business or related discipline; MBA preferred
  • 10+ years previous marketing agency experience required. Higher Ed, Pharma and/or Middle Market advertising experience a plus
  • 5+ years of leadership experience directly managing a team
  • 5+ years of P&L responsibility for a business or business unit of 10 million +
  • Documented track record of growing accounts and client revenue
  • Proven leader with entrepreneurial and mentoring mindset
  • Ability to thrive in a team-oriented, results-driven and customer-focused environment
  • Strong executive presence, comfortable with evolving priorities and tight deadlines
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Superior communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to travel as needed (Approx. 30%)
